Currently living in Frankfurt Germany, the puerto-rican born artist graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1992. She continued her studies at La Facultat de Bellas Artes in Barcelona and moved on to the Hochschule für Gestalltung in Offenbach, Germany. She has has held a number of solo shows and numerous exhibitions in leading museums, galleries and art fairs in internationally.
Her work is part of collections in Germany, Spain, the US, China and most recently Dubai.
Michelle Concepción’s abstract paintings are an enigma: abstract compositions that evoke diametrically different interpretations. Some viewers see microscopic organisms; others, asteroids; still others, aquatic plant forms. “They are like visual meditations, dreamy shapes that appear to be floating in their space,” says Virginia Miller from ArtSpace Virginia Miller Galleries.
